Ebay Customer Protections are Broken, Badly, I'm closing my acc't.
I bought 2 tubes of Shoe Goo from a seller on ebay, shipped with FedEx. I got an email showing a package on someone else's doorstep saying it had been delivered, obviously not to me. I emailed the seller and said that, they said it was delivered, and ebay would refund me. I called FedEx Customer Service and gave them the tracking number, repeated it 2x to make sure they had it right, they told me neither my name nor address were on the associated shipping label. I told the seller that, no response. I opened a case with ebay, included this information and the tracking number and the FedEx customer service number, they denied my claim saying the seller told them it was delivered to me. I contested and they refused a 2nd time.
Ebay obviously didn't call FedEx to verify my claim.
I emailed the seller and asked them to block me so I would never accidentally buy from them again, including a link to the ebay page telling them how to do that. Again, no reply from them. I emailed them 2 more times requesting this, no reply either time.
I opened a claim with Paypal and got a refund from them.
Next I found a different account on ebay selling 2 tubes of Shoe Goo, bought them, this time they were shipped with USPS. Again, when I was told it had been delivered and I didn't see it in my mail box, I emailed the seller... no reply. So I went to USPS, told them what happened, they told me that neither my name nor address were on the associated shipping label. They printed out the recipient name and address when I asked for proof to open a claim on ebay, and they actually did this for me. I posted a photo of the document on the seller ebay message stream, no reply. I opened a case with ebay and it was denied! They didn't call USPS to verify my claim.
I now suspect that I had unfortunately bought from the same seller both times.
I tried to close my ebay accont, they assured me they value me as a customer (with almost 1,000 purchases over 15 years) and asked me for more information to support my case. That doesn't even make sense, I provided all of the proof they needed to support both claims, they ignored it both times. Now they want more proof? I emailed them saying as much.
I requested that they close my account over a dozen times, it's still not done! I don't owe anyone any money, there are no outstanding or unpaid orders, no refunds in the works, no activity at all. And ebay still won't close my account.
I bought 2 tubes of Shoe Goo on Amazon and lo and behold they were actually delivered right to my door, my name was on the shipping label, my address too! Amazing!
ebay customer protections used to be good but now they are meaningless.
